Uppercross Enterprises to host Warehouse Recruitment Open Evening on Tuesday 14th June
Uppercross Enterprises Ltd, one of Ireland’s leading suppliers of Plumbing and Heating Solutions, is holding a Warehouse Recruitment Open Evening on Tuesday 14th of June. They are hiring for various warehouse positions at their premises in Broomhill Business Complex in Tallaght due to continued growth and expansion.
Uppercross’ distribution warehouse, located in Tallaght, has been key to their success. It is their main distribution hub, supplying heating and plumbing solutions to their customers nationwide. “There isn’t a builder’s merchants, plumb centre or DIY shop that doesn’t stock our products in some shape or form,” admits Roy Moore, Director of Uppercross Enterprises Ltd (UEL). “We probably wouldn’t have had the success we’ve had without the support of local employment, admits Roy Moore proudly.
Almost 40 years in business, the company was formed in 1983. However, according to Roy, it was around 2001 when things really started to gather pace. “Our site in Ranelagh wasn’t fit for purpose. We got the opportunity to take a warehouse in the Broomhill business park in 2004, and we haven’t looked back since. We added a second warehouse on Broomhill Road and then the third alongside our NIKO Bathrooms showroom located at Unit 5, Broomhill Business Complex.
“Basing our Head Office, Warehouse & Distribution Centre in Tallaght has been brilliant for us. It’s a great location, just off the M50, and there are many fantastic people we’ve hired from the area over the years.”
Roy is convinced that one of the primary reasons for their success and rapid expansion is continued improvement in procurement and IT systems. They have been implemented as part of Uppercross’ Warehouse Development Plan. “Our productivity went through the roof when we implemented our latest warehouse management system. It’s state-of-the-art. Back in the day, a forklift driver would just put a pallet where he could find a space. Nowadays, we know exactly where everything is. I started out on a warehouse floor myself, and I can tell you, the technology Uppercross has now makes the lives of everyone in the warehouse so much easier.”
Another reason for Uppercross’ growth and success is the people. “I’m proud to say we’ve never had to have any lay-offs, even through the last recession. We genuinely care for our people, and we take pride in helping them develop throughout the organisation.
“We have been growing every year since we opened and are continuously building our product portfolio and partnerships. We’ve introduced leading industry brands such as Myson and Emmeti, to name just a few. And with another exciting partnership on the horizon later this summer, we know that this success will continue. That’s why we’re running our open evening; we have so many opportunities in our warehouses. And they’re great opportunities; we pay above the market rate and look after our staff.”
